SWEATER AS ART | DANIEL SILVERSTAIN

I discovered a fantastic designer at the end of 2016. Daniel Silverstain puts an incredible amount of thought into his designs, and I completely fell for the White.City collection. It was inspired by the Bauhaus movement (which influenced a lot of architecture), as well as Israel and the future. Cool tidbit: Daniel Silverstain is a former musician and recording artist. Great asymmetry and juxtaposition of futuristic, metallic flash with soft, see-through gauze. Lines are clean and volume is oversized. He was also inspired by both the Mediterranean Sea and the desert. I really enjoyed this silhouette : pairing the oversized sweater with fitted jeans. Check out more of Daniel Silverstein's designs here and here. Also in shown here: loafers jeans bag (similar) photos by Mr. Nicholson

AUTUMN IN THE BIG APPLE

One of my favorite things about autumn is the cool, crisp air (and hot apple cider and cinnamon-sprinkled lattes). I don't get much of it in LA, so I relish it in New York City. I'm so in love with this amazing coat by Teatum Jones. No place like New York, New York. ^_~ coat by Teatum Jones pants by Zara sunglasses by Saint Laurent bag by Chanel shoes by Christian Louboutin

FALL ROMANCE: GOTHIC FLORALS & LEATHER | STYLE INSPO

A little fall style inspiration. ^_^ I absolutely adore florals, and don't believe you have to tuck them away for the colder months. I wanted to put together some of my favorite elements: black leather, romantic lace, dark florals, and brocade (I love brocade everything, by the way) for a bit of autumn style inso. ^_~ Stella McCartney - Ingrid Wool-piqué Blazer Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini Women's Circular-Lace Blouse Etro Black Floral Bra Top Princetown floral jacquard slipper H&M - Biker Leggings Urban Decay 'Vice' Lipstick Saint Laurent - Monogramme Blogger Bag Ray-Ban - Clubmaster sunglasses

WARM-WEATHER FALL FASHION: BACK TO BLACK

Not quite warm, not quite cool. LA (and much of the country these days) is still in that in-between phase that makes dressing for the weather a bit difficult. Soon, LA nights will be a bit chillier, but until then, wearing a netted jacket (Manière de Voir) and tons of black helps to add a bit of balance. My sister and I had a bit of fun taking these snaps, especially regarding the wall graffiti--both of which were her idea. She and Mr. Nicholson have great eyes for this kind of thing, which is certainly a boon for me. ^_^ I love these Rogue Oxfords because they provide the crisp, tailored look I find so irresistible, while being playful at the same time, with their tongue-in-cheek approach to laced-up propriety. Had a bit of fun with…

REVISITING OLD PIECES IN YOUR WARDROBE

I'm a firm believer in everything having "its time." You can feel it tugging at your intuition: time to switch careers, time to switch majors, time to try a new hobby, time to finally read that book sitting on your shelf for eons. So goes old pieces in one's wardrobe. I'm not a hoarder by any means (and if I am, I hereby deny it wholeheartedly), but I do save pieces that I think are "coming back" or are wonderful but have to wait their time because I don't yet have the right "moment" for them. Take my Prada boots. I love these quirky velvet and leather numbers but though I've had them for yeeearrrrs, I've worn them only once, and I didn't really like how I worked it the first time around. So…

SISTER DAY IN LA

My sister Angela and I try to have at least one Sister Day every week. It can be difficult, but we make it happen because that's how The Rogers Sisters do. This past week we hung out at my new addiction, Blue Plate Oysterette. And that was just the beginning, because if there's one thing I love to do, it's eat...    I posted a Get Ready with Me | Fresh and Everyday Makeup tutorial video, in which I mentioned I was late for this lunch, but I think we more than made up for it. Also, I only filmed my outfit briefly but you can see the wonderful MaisonKwee ring here. Their rings are absolutely exquisite. Tee shirt by Sincerely Jules. Glad I snagged one because they were flying off the Nordstrom racks like…
