I discovered a fantastic designer at the end of 2016. Daniel Silverstain puts an incredible amount of thought into his designs, and I completely fell for the White.City collection. It was inspired by the Bauhaus movement (which influenced a lot of architecture), as well as Israel and the future. Cool tidbit: Daniel Silverstain is a former musician and recording artist. Great asymmetry and juxtaposition of futuristic, metallic flash with soft, see-through gauze. Lines are clean and volume is oversized. He was also inspired by both the Mediterranean Sea and the desert. I really enjoyed this silhouette : pairing the oversized sweater with fitted jeans. Check out more of Daniel Silverstein's designs here and here. Also in shown here: loafers jeans bag (similar) photos by Mr. Nicholson
My Favorite Books of 2016! It wasn't easy, because it was a great reading year for me, but here are my Top 10 Books of 2016 (plus one Honorable Mention). What were some of your favorite reads? Let me know in the comments! I hope you enjoy the video--don't forget to subscribe! ^_~ Closed Captions [CC] available.
I read some great books recently, which is a wonderful way to approach the end of the year (although that makes putting together a Favorite Books of 2016 list much more difficult). What did you read this month? Anything you'd recommend? ^_^
My huge beauty haul, thanks to visiting Sephora and Ulta, aka beauty heaven lol. I got a variety of things--makeup, skincare, and hair products, including Living Proof curl shampoo and conditioner to get my curly look in the video. You already know how much I love Urban Decay's Vice lipsticks, so I picked up a few of those, as well as a few things I haven't tried. I think a lot of these will prove to be great choices for fall makeup (but I didn't only get dark colors, as I think pale nudes and pinks are great for fall looks, too)! One of my favorite things about autumn is the cool, crisp air (and hot apple cider and cinnamon-sprinkled lattes). I don't get much of it in LA, so I relish it in New York City. I'm so in love with this amazing coat by Teatum Jones. No place like New York, New York. ^_~ coat by Teatum Jones pants by Zara sunglasses by Saint Laurent bag by Chanel shoes by Christian Louboutin
A little fall style inspiration. ^_^ I absolutely adore florals, and don't believe you have to tuck them away for the colder months. I wanted to put together some of my favorite elements: black leather, romantic lace, dark florals, and brocade (I love brocade everything, by the way) for a bit of autumn style inso. ^_~ Stella McCartney - Ingrid Wool-piqué Blazer Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini Women's Circular-Lace Blouse Etro Black Floral Bra Top Princetown floral jacquard slipper H&M - Biker Leggings Urban Decay 'Vice' Lipstick Saint Laurent - Monogramme Blogger Bag Ray-Ban - Clubmaster sunglasses
Sexy beach waves can be accomplished with a curling iron--no special curling wand needed! Here's my how-to hair tutorial for getting my signature wavy look, including lots of hair-curling tips. Beach waves or mermaid waves or loose waves--whatever you choose to call it, there's just something about that effortless wavy look. The secret is hair curling technique: from the angle in which you're holding your curling iron (or tongs, for my Brit fam), how much hair you leave out at the end, and getting that initial lift when you begin to curl your hair. I also give you hairstyling tips with haircare in mind, because you of course want to minimize damage from heatstyling (again, much of it has to do with hair curling technique). Getting sexy beach waves is quite easy once you…
